I go through torment every morning trying to straighten my hair. I've paid a pretty penny for straightening creams, gels, sprays and serums. I probably spend about 45 minutes getting ready Most of the time my hair is just "okay." Sometimes I'm super happy with it, and sometimes I want to rip it out...but usually...it's just...blah. And nobody ever compliments it, except for once in a blue moon.
Recently, I woke up late, and didn't have time to straighten my hair. Instead, I let it do its own thing, and went to work with curly hair. It took me about 10 minutes, total. Most people at the office thought I'd gotten a perm, (a perm????) and some knew it was my natural look. Regardless of where they thought the curls came from, the overwhelming consensus was that I looked great...they were jealous. People didn't stop talking about it all day long.
So...of course I've worn my hair straight every day since.
The bottom line is that nobody wants what they already have...no matter how great it is. It's a horrible human trait...but it's undeniable.
Mostly...we're all just idiots.
